At its December 4, 1999 meeting, the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners revoked the license of William O. Murray, M.D., a Family Practice physician, fined him $5,000.00, and assessed him $19,637.10 for all costs involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case against him. Dr. Murray now resides in Virginia, but practiced in Moapa Valley, Nevada. He was charged with and found guilty on 59 different counts, including aiding and assisting the unauthorized practice of medicine, improper delegation of medical care of patients, improper fee splitting, failure to maintain medical records of patient, and failure to disclose to his patients financial conflicts of interest. J. Leavitt, Jr. was the person Dr. Murray was found guilty of aiding and assisting in the unauthorized practice of medicine. Mr. Leavitt is not now and never has been a licensed physician. Dr. Murray was found guilty of aiding and assisting Mr. Leavitt in performing chelation therapy, colon therapy, lymphatic detoxification, oxygenation, and magnetic pulse therapy at a location owned by Mr. Leavitt.
The board also disciplined Reno physician Robin J. Willcourt, M.D., a Maternal/Fetal physician. Dr. Willcourt was charged with having been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude. The board assessed Dr. Willcourt $4,055.35 for costs involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case against him and required that he perform 20 hours of uncompensated public service, to be approved in advance by the Secretary-Treasurer of the board.
