NEVADA
STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS
ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
At its May 30, 2003 meeting in Reno, the Nevada State Board of
Medical Examiners re-elected Cheryl A. Hug-English, M.D. to a third term as
President. Dr. Hug-English is
Director of the Student Health Services at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has served on the board for seven years.
Jaculine
C. Jones, Ed.D., a public member of the board, was re-elected as Vice President
for a third term. Dr. Jones is a
retired high school principal from Washoe County.
She presently resides in Fallon and is an Educational Consultant.
Donald
H. Baepler, Ph.D., D.Sc., a public member of the board, was elected
Secretary-Treasurer of the board. Dr.
Baepler is the first public member in the history of the board to be elected to
this position, and he will be responsible for chairing the Investigative
Committee of the board, which reviews violations of the Nevada Medical Practice
Act and determines if disciplinary charges are to be brought against physicians,
physician assistants, or practitioners of respiratory care. Dr. Baepler has served on the board for over four years.
He is a former president of UNLV and Chancellor of the University and
Community College System of Nevada. He
presently serves as Executive Director of the Harry Reid Center for
Environmental Studies and the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History.
Paul
A. Stewart, M.D., retired from the board after serving eight years.
Dr. Stewart, a Pulmonary Medicine specialist from Las Vegas, served the
board for two terms as Secretary-Treasurer during his tenure.
