The Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against Dean Mondell, M.D. on August 7, 2006, alleging a violation of NRS 630.301(4), for failing to provide reasonable care, skill, or knowledge ordinarily used under similar circumstances. As per Count II, Dr. Mondell allegedly violated NRS 630.3062(1), by failing to maintain timely, legible, accurate and complete medical records relating to the diagnosis, treatment and care of a patient.

A Settlement, Waiver and Consent Agreement was approved and accepted by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners, whereby, Dr. Mondell, by not contesting, agreed that an Order be entered finding that he committed a violation of the Medical Practice Act of the State of Nevada to wit: one count of malpractice, when he deviated from the standard of care when he prescribed pain relievers in an amount that resulted in the patient taking excessively high levels of acetaminophen daily. Dr. Mondell shall, at his own expense, attend, within one year of the adoption of this Agreement with the Board, six (6) hours of continuing medical education pre-approved by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, in addition to any other continuing medical education required as a condition of licensure. Dr. Mondell shall also reimburse the Board $ 1,674.11 for the costs and expenses incurred during the investigation and prosecution of this case within ninety (90) days of the Board's acceptance, adoption, and approval of this Agreement. Furthermore, Count II of the complaint shall be dismissed.

Dr. Mondell completed all terms and conditions of the June 8, 2007 Settlement, Waiver and Consent Agreement.

The Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against Dean Mondell, M.D. on August 7, 2006, alleging a violation of NRS 630.301(4), for failing to use the reasonable knowledge, skill and expertise ordinarily used in similar circumstances in treating a patient, and a violation of NRS 630.3062(1), for failing to maintain timely, legible, accurate and complete medical records relating to the diagnosis, treatment and care of a patient.

A Settlement, Waiver and Consent Agreement was approved and accepted by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners (Board), whereby Dr. Mondell agreed that an order may be entered by the Board against him finding him guilty of a violation of NRS 630.3062(1).  The Board ordered that Dr. Mondell complete 8 hours of continuing medical education (CME), in addition to any other CME required as a condition of licensure, within 1 year of the Board's acceptance, adoption and approval of the settlement agreement; and that he reimburse the Board's costs and expenses incurred in the investigation and prosecution of the case against him in the sum of $1,574.23, payable within 90 days of the Board's acceptance, adoption and approval of the settlement agreement.
