6/23/1999
The Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against Dr. Handsfield alleging that he is unable to practice medicine with reasonable skill and safety because of mental or physical illness, or the use of alcohol, drugs, narcotics or any other substance.

Dr. Handsfield entered into a Stipulation for Settlement with the Board and it was ordered that his license to practice medicine in the state of Nevada be suspended until further order of the Board, he shall participate in a
program to correct alcohol or drug dependence or any other impairment, he is ordered to enter Talbot Recovery campus for an evaluation and treatment and upon release from Talbot he is to enter into a contract with the Diversion
Program for 5 years, he must petition the Board for restoration of his license, and he must pay the investigative costs to the Board.

The Board lifted Dr. Handsfield's suspension and restored him to a restricted license to practice medicine in the state of Nevada. He is restricted to office practice and only certain surgical procedures until further order of the Board.
 
9/07/2002
Dr. Handsfield petitioned the board for removal of the restrictions placed
on his license. The Board approved Dr. Handsfield's petition; however, the Board ordered that Dr. Handsfield's license remain restricted, with the restriction being that his first 25 patient cases shall be proctored by a physician practicing in the same field, licensed by the Board and pre-approved by the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board. Once he has successfully treated the 25 patients while being proctored, his license will be restored to full and unrestricted practice, as long as he complies with his contract with the board's Diversion Program.

Dr. Handsfield petitioned the Board for removal of the restrictions placed on his medical license by the Board on September 7, 2002. The Board approved to lift Dr. Handsfield's restrictions on his medical license and restored him to a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Nevada.
 
1/06/2009
A complaint was filed against Rodney Handsfield, M.D., charging him with a violation of NRS 630.301(3), based on disciplinary action taken against his medical license in Kansas.
 
8/07/2009
A Settlement Agreement was approved and accepted by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners whereby Dr. Handsfield agreed that an order may be entered against him by the Board finding him guilty of a violation of NRS 630.301(3).  He shall receive a public reprimand, pay a fine of $1,000.00;  reimburse the Board's costs and expenses incurred in the investigation and prosecution of the case against him, in the amount of $1,713.61, payable within 60 days; and shall comply with all terms of Consent Order of the Kansas Medical Board.
