Board of Medical Examiners
Press Release

Released September 1, 1999

At its August 28, 1999 meeting, the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners revoked the license of Nir Lorant, M.D. Dr. Lorant was found guilty of attempting to obtain a Nevada license to practice medicine by fraud or misrepresentation, or by a false, misleading, inaccurate or incomplete statement. He was also found guilty of engaging in conduct intended to deceive. Dr. Lorant was the subject of a complaint by the Medical Board of California charging him with a violation of the California medical practice act. When he applied for a medical license in the state of Nevada, he represented to the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners that he had not been the subject of any disciplinary action outside the state of Nevada.

The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners accepted a Stipulation for Settlement with Ronald C. Rosen, M.D. The board issued Dr. Rosen a public reprimand, required him to perform 20 hours of community service, and pay the sum of $500.00 as and for all administrative expenses incurred in the investigation and hearing preparation process. Dr. Rosen was charged with having his license to practice medicine in California modified or limited, which is a violation of the Nevada Medical Practice Act.

The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners denied a Motion for Reconsideration of its Order in the matter of its disciplinary action against Louis C. Emeterio, M.D. Dr. Emeterio had been placed on probation on June 19, 1998, and he sought an early release from probation. The board denied his request and continued him on probation.

The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners also denied the application for licensure of William O. Harrison, M.D. Dr. Harrison had previously surrendered his Nevada medical license while under investigation by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners. Denial of Dr. Harrison's application for licensure was based upon the revocation of his California medical license and a criminal conviction in the state of Nevada.
