The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners will hold its centennial meeting on March 15, 1999 beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the Old Assembly Chambers of the State Capitol in Carson City, the very room in which the legislation to establish the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners was enacted on March 15, 1899.
The board is totally funded by registration fees and receives no tax dollars for its work in licensing and disciplining medical doctors and physician assistants in Nevada. Mr. Arne D. Rosencrantz, a public member of the board, presently serves as President of the board. Mr. Rosencrantz is the first public member to be elected to serve as President of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
The formal program for the board's centennial meeting will commence at 12:15 p.m. in the Old Assembly Chambers, with members of the Nevada legislature and other elected officials as invited guests, of which Governor Kenny C. Guinn, Lieutenant Governor Lorraine T. Hunt, Speaker of the Assembly Joseph E. Dini, and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley will speak. In addition, James R. Winn, M.D., Executive Vice President of the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc. will present the Federation's Century Club membership award to the board. Former board Secretary and President, Thomas J. Scully, M.D., will recognize former board members in attendance. C. Robert Vanselow, P.A.-C will present an award to the board on behalf of the Nevada Academy of Physician Assistants.
The entire meeting and formal program are open for attendance by the public.
