NEVADA STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS 
APPOINTS NEW DEPUTY EXECUTIVE 
SECRETARY AND SPECIAL COUNSEL

             Cheryl A. Hug-English, M.D., President of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners and Larry D. Lessly, Executive Secretary and Special Counsel of the board announced today the appointment of Drennan A. Clark to the position of Deputy Executive Secretary and Special Counsel effective July 2003. 

              Mr. Clark, a veteran Nevada attorney, was a partner in the Reno law firm of Guild, Hagen and Clark for over twenty years.  He became Adjutant General of Nevada Air and Army National Guard units in 1987 and served in that capacity under three Nevada governors until January, 2001, at which time he was appointed Solicitor General of Nevada in the Attorney General’s office.  He presently serves as Chief Security Counsel in the Attorney General’s office.  He has served on the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada, and as President of the Washoe County Bar Association.

            The professional paths of Mr. Clark and Mr. Lessly have crossed in the past.  Both men are attorneys and served together as Air Force Staff Judge Advocates.  Later in their military careers, Mr. Lessly, as an Air Force Brigadier General served as Mr. Clark’s deputy while Mr. Clark, an Air Force Major General, was Adjutant General of Nevada.

            Dr. Hug-English stated the board is delighted with the addition of Mr. Clark to its staff.  She said Mr. Clark brings a wealth of legal, administrative, legislative, and management experience to the board at a time when several of the board’s senior staff members are nearing retirement.  She said Mr. Clark will assume the position of Executive Secretary/ Special Counsel upon Mr. Lessly’s retirement.
