The Investigative Committee of
the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against
Farrukh Imtiaz, M.D., charging him with a violation of NRS 630.301(4), for
failing to use the reasonable knowledge, skill and expertise ordinarily used
in similar circumstances when he failed to see the patient upon being
notified of the deterioration of her condition and his failure to see her
within 12 hours of her admission as mandated by the hospital. |

A Settlement Agreement was approved
and accepted by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners whereby Dr.
Imtiaz agreed that an order may be entered against him by the Board finding him
guilty of a violation of NRS 630.301(4). He shall pay a fine of $500 within 60
days; he shall complete six hours of
continuing medical education in his
specialty of practice, to be completed
within 6 months and to be in addition to the
hours required as a condition of licensure;
and he shall reimburse the Board the
reasonable costs and expenses incurred in
the investigation and prosecution of the
case against him in the amount of $4,000.00
within 60 days. |
