Case No. 10-7440-1

Upon a review of the evidence presented to it in the matter, the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners found that Dr. Boren violated NRS 630.301(9) and NRS 630.3062(1), as set forth in Counts II and III of the Complaint.  The Board ordered that Dr. Boren receive a public reprimand; pay a fine of $5,000 per violation, for a total of $10,000; complete 12 hours of in-person continuing medical education (CME) regarding medical ethics and ethics; and reimburse the Board its reasonable costs and expenses incurred in the investigation and prosecution of the case, the fine and costs payable within 120 days the filing of the Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law and Order.

The Investigative Committee of the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against Dr. Boren, charging him with a violation of NRS 630.304(1), for obtaining, maintaining or renewing or attempting to obtain, maintain or renew a license to practice medicine by bribery, fraud or misrepresentation or by any false, misleading, inaccurate or incomplete statement, a violation of NRS 630.301(9), for engaging in conduct that brings the medical profession into disrepute, a violation of NRS 630.3062(1), for failure to maintain timely, legible, accurate and complete medical records relating to the diagnosis, treatment and care of a patient, a violation of NRS 630.306(2)(a), for engaging in conduct which is intended to deceive, and a violation of NRS 630.305(1)(d), for charging for visits to the physician's office which did not occur or for services which were not rendered.
