The Investigative Committee of
the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a complaint against
Janet Albright, M.D. charging her with a violation of NRS 630.301(4), for
failing to use the reasonable knowledge, skill and expertise ordinarily used
in similar circumstances in treating a patient. The patient presented for a
consultation with complaints of varicose veins. Respondent ordered a venous
duplex scan which showed no evidence of an abnormal left greater saphenous
vein although the left lesser saphenous vein was found to be incompetent. A
surgical procedure was recommended for left lesser saphenous vein, but was
performed on the left and right greater saphenous veins, leaving the lesser
vein untouched. The ablation of the greater saphenous veins was unnecessary
and did not coincide with the informed consent obtained from the patient. |

On August 7, 2009, Settlement,
Waiver and Consent Agreement was approved
and accepted by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners whereby Dr. Albright
agreed that an order may be entered by the Board against her finding her guilty
of a violation of NRS 630.301(4). Dr. Albright shall be publicly
reprimanded and shall reimburse the Board the costs and expenses incurred in the
investigation and prosecution of this case in the amount of $2,230.96 within 60
days. |
