The Investigative Committee of
the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against
Dr. Ahmed, charging that in his treatment of five patients in 2003 and 2004
he engaged in conduct that is grounds for discipline pursuant to the Medical
Practice Act (NRS Chapter 630) to wit: three counts of malpractice, four
counts of failure to maintain timely, legible, accurate and complete medical
records, and one count of continual failure to exercise the skill or
diligence or use the methods ordinarily exercised under the same
circumstances by physicians in good standing practicing in the same
specialty or field. |

A Settlement, Waiver and Consent Agreement was approved
and accepted by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners regarding its
complaint against Dr. Ahmed. The Board entered its order finding that Dr. Ahmed
committed two counts of malpractice, violations of NRS 630.301(4); and two
counts of failure to maintain timely, legible, accurate and complete medical
records, violations of NRS 630.3062(1). The Board ordered that his license to
practice medicine shall be suspended for six (6) months; said suspension to be
stayed and he shall be placed on twenty-four (24) months' probation with the
following conditions: Dr. Ahmed shall be issued a public reprimand, shall pay a
fine of $1000, shall reimburse the Board the reasonable costs and expenses
incurred in the investigation and prosecution of this case, with both fines and
costs due within one hundred and eighty (180) days of the Settlement Agreement.
Dr. Ahmed shall complete four (4) hours of continuing medical education (CME) on
the topic of medical record keeping and six (6) hours of CME regarding his
specialty of practice, to be pre-approved by the Investigative Committee Chair,
to be completed within the probationary period, and in addition to any other CME
required as a condition of licensure. Dr. Ahmed shall submit to random reviews
of his medical charts within the probationary period by a representative of the
Board; and he shall contact the Compliance Officer of the Nevada State Board of
Medical Examiners within thirty (30) days of the acceptance, approval and
adoption of the Settlement Agreement in order to provide information regarding
the most expeditious method of contacting him. |

Dr. Ahmed successfully completed
all terms of the Settlement, Waiver and Consent Agreement filed on March 31,
2008, and
was released from probation. |
