Changes to In-Office Surgery Reporting

NRS 630.30665 was amended by the 2011 Legislature, and the changes became effective on October 1, 2011.

Licensees are no longer required to report the number and type of in-office surgeries performed requiring conscious sedation, deep sedation or general anesthesia on an annual basis; rather, this reporting will be made at the time of license renewal.  Licensees will be required to report their 2011 and 2012 numbers when renewing in 2013.

Additionally, licensees are now required to report any sentinel events arising from any surgery performed in their offices or in any other facility which is not a medical facility as defined by NRS 449.0151 and/or is not out of state, within 14 days after the occurrence of the sentinel event.  A form is available on this website on which to make such reports.

If you would like to read the new statutory language, you can do so by going to the Nevada Legislature's website (www.leg.state.nv.us) and reading Senate Bill (SB) 168, section 7.5 (click on "Session Info," then "76th Session (2011)," then "Bill Information," then "Senate Bills" and then SB168).
